My new favorite neighborhood in Barcelona is called Sant Antoni. Not even because of all the cute cafés and restaurants (though they all do look very tempting). It's because of two very beautiful vintage furniture shops, both in the Carrer de Viladomat. The first one was El Recibidor, full of very nicely restored chests, stools, desks, lamps and accessories from the fifties to the seventies. Nate was lucky I did not have a truck with me - we'd be broke now. Our apartment would look marvelous though.
The second little vintage shop was further down the street. Valnot has a treasure cave vibe to it. The owners collect everything they like, restore furniture themselves and also build new furniture out of salvaged wood. After settling on a leaf shaped serving platter and a little brass turtle we realized we don't have cash anymore. Nate set off to the next ATM while me and my camera enjoyed our time alone with all the beauty of this place. Don't miss these two spots when visiting Barcelona!
