I have the most dull furniture possible at the office. It is either beige-coloured (not the sofisticated beige!) or light gray (not the hip gray!). The bad thing is I cannot exchange it for nice stuff. So for the past few years I came to work every day trying to ignore the ugly furniture. My colleague and me did our best to decorate the walls and bring in some greens but still: that beige-gray mixture hurts the eye. I kept telling myself: "This is just your desk at the office. It is nice at home." But I spend fourty hours a week here! So I decided something had to happen. Only I did not know what until I discovered this article at Livet Hemma (no, I do not speak Swedish, but pictures luckily speak for themselves). I could make the place look organized and beautiful with accessoires!
My pens and pencils are now orderly stacked in a beautifully carved wooden pencil holder. It was a present from a friend in Romania. Post-its and notepads are hidden in a lovely vintage cigarette packet. Finally I put a wrapping paper by Swedish designer Hanna Werning under my desk pad. We often use toilet paper instead of tissues and napkins - which is very convenient. But I decided to hide it. Good decision, don't you think?
